What do I need to bring to the studio?

- Well loved outfit that is ok to be painted

- A change of clothes including socks

- snacks & a water bottle

- your smart phone with lots of memory space for photos!

Is my child too young for art?

Our answer: no way! We believe in the process of art and the importance of experimenting with materials. In this way, children of all ages can make art!

*Currently, our youngest participants are 8months or those sitting independtly. This is due to the nature of our studio environment as well as the materials being of

What if my child isn't engaged?

That’s okay! One of the ones children learn is by watching, observing, and then later modelling. If they’re observing, that’s great! Let them take it all in, and when they’re ready, they’ll reach for something that interests them.

What kind of paint do you use?

We use non-toxic, washable tempera paint.

What is your location?

1447 Gerrard St. E

Is my child too old for sensory play?

You may be surprised but older children enjoy sensory play too! Things like slime, magic potions and clay play are all sensory experiences that are popular among older children. They just enjoy it differently and may apply more specific knowledge to the process for example like the scientic process and cultural reference, etc.

Are parents allowed to stay?

Absolutely! Anytime you book a visit to the studio whether it's a drop-in, birthday party or camp, grownups are always welcome to stay & participate. Max two grownups/ child..

Will my child be making lots of artwork to bring home?

Our programs are all about the process of art, meaning we focus on the actions and creativity that happen while making it, not so much on the finished product. Sometimes your child will bring home their creations if they created something they wish to keep. However, this isn't a requirement and is certainly different for each child :)

Does the paint come off of my clothes?

While we only use washable tempera paint, we can't gurantee the result after wash as it is something we can't control. The best practice is to come in in well loved outfit that you don't mind to be stained.

Is there going to be someone teaching us art at the drop-in?

Our facilitator is always around to observe and offer help when needed. There is no guided instructions. If you need anything, feel free to talk to our facilitator during your self-guided exploration at the studio and we're always happy to help!

" The wider the range of possibilities we offer children, the more intense will be their motivations and the richer their experiences. We must widen the range of topics and goals, the types of situations we offer and their degree of structure, the kinds and combinations of resources and materials, and the possible interactions with things, peers, and adults."
