What is Sensory Play?

Updated: Jan 3, 2022

It's more than coloured rice in a bin and it definitely do not need to be curated

When we invite children to engage in Sensory Play, we are nurturing their natural curiosities and allowing them to develop important cognitive skills that are transferable to their everyday lives.

By providing children with opportunities to explore diverse materials and substances we are encouraging them to experiment, ask questions, and learn about their world.

Our children will squish, pour, scoop, mix, and use each of their senses as they are exposed to different materials. What better way to ask and wonder about how things work than to experiment in a safe, hands-on environment? Sensory play has also been shown to have calming qualities and contributes to positive mental and emotional health among children.
